Next to meeting other students from all over the world, studying abroad also gives you a great opportunity to get to know the local people and communities. You can do just that by joining our volunteering event at Ystävätupa on the 6th of February. Ystävätupa (“Friend cabin”) can be described as a public living room open for everybody, and it is organized by Kehitysvammatuki 57 ry, a non-governmental organization for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and for their families.
The idea is to give a short presentation where students can share some interesting or funny things about their home countries. You could show pictures or videos on a PowerPoint, or maybe teach a few words in your native language or share some delicacy from your home country. The sky is the limit! The main thing is just to have fun, meet some new people and spend time together, which is the main purpose of Ystävätupa in general.
Make sure to sign up fast since there are spots for 10 volunteers. You will get more info a few days after signing up :) Remember that sign up is binding!
