About Suomenlinna:
Suomenlinna is a UNESCO World Heritage site and popular with tourists and locals, who enjoy it as a picturesque picnic site. Originally named Sveaborg (Fortress of Svea), or Viapori as called by Finnish-speaking Finns, it was renamed Suomenlinna (Castle of Finland) in 1918 for patriotic and nationalistic reasons, though it is sometimes known by its original name.

Suomenlinna is accessible only by water. A ferry service runs from the Market Square to Suomenlinna. The ferry service is a part of HSL Helsinki region, so if your travel card is covering the Helsinki region and have monthly ticket, you will not need to pay additional fees for the ferry.

The trip to Suomenlinna takes 15–20 minutes and offers magnificent views of Helsinki and the surroundings from the sea.
